Nauvoo
Week 28 (20 - 26 June 2016)
This
was another great week in Nauvoo. Monday
started with a Temple Missionary Talent Show.
It was very good, interesting and hilarious all at the same time! It started with a puppet skit of President
McArthur; several of us used a hand puppet and “coined” many of his usual
comments and statements (peculiarities) and everybody, including him got a good
laugh. It was followed by ice cream
sundaes and cookies…you can never go to a Mormon activity without having
refreshments that are always blessed to give us health and strength:-)
Tuesday,
was a usual day with us working in the Baptistry in the evening. The night was not too busy but it kept us on
the go.
On
Wednesday, Tom performed a Sealing of a living spouse to a deceased
spouse. The spouse had passed away about
14 months ago and now they are Sealed for time and all eternity. We later worked the evening shift and had a
wonderful experience.
On
Thursday, we served in the morning and later that night attended the
performance of BYU Noteworthy. This is an
acapella group of sisters. They were
wonderful; one of them made all of the drum, etc. sounds with her voice. She gave an impromptu lesson to the audience
on how to make all of the sounds.
Friday,
we served in the morning and had a great experience.
On
Saturday, we served in the afternoon/evening and prepared to travel to Lake
Zurich, IL to visit Scott, Malia, Corban and little Ruby Rae Shaw. We left following sacrament meeting in Nauvoo
and arrived there around 3:00pm.
Little Ruby is such a doll and it was wonderful to hold her; she seemed to fit in the palm of my hand. We spent Sunday and Monday morning with them. Sharon stayed for the week to help with the household business, entertaining Corban and helping with Ruby….more to come next week.

Time
is passing so quickly and we are already starting seeing the surge in patrons,
particularly in the Baptistry. We love
our mission and look forward to seeing our other children in the coming weeks
in Nauvoo. We love each of you and thank
you for your support, patience and love.
We know we are doing what the Lord would have us do at this time in our
lives. We pray the Lord’s choicest
blessings to be with each of you, now and forever.
Love,
Mom
& Dad/Nana & Papa/Elder & Sister Shaw
